Personal profile
Academic Biography
Dr. Zhuang Zheng has been a lecturer (assistant professor) at the School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies at Teesside University since April 2024. Before this, he was a Postdoc fellow in the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his Ph.D. in Architecture and Civil Engineering from the City University of Hong Kong in October 2021.
Dr. Zheng has long been committed to research on technologies and applications of smart energy systems. The core academic achievements include developing the key technologies for the next-generation smart residential building energy management, the novel energy modeling and control techniques of grid-building interactions for peak shaving, voltage regulation, and power balance, the rapid urban-scale building energy modeling and simulation method, and the groundbreaking multi-scale multi-process cyber-physical-social systematic framework for integrative energy management of smart grids and urban energy systems.
Since 2018, he has authored nine first-author SCI-indexed papers in prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Applied Energy, and Energy and Buildings. He also served as an invited reviewer for more than 20 international journals and chaired sessions at the International Conference on Applied Energy (ICAE) twice. Notably, he represented the City University of Hong Kong at Singapore's 2020 Global Young Scientists Summit (only five people were elected). Dr Zheng has also played a pivotal role in the collaboration project with the Hong Kong Sun Hung Kai and AECOM Companies to enhance their commercial buildings' energy flexibility.
Looking forward, Dr. Zheng is determined to develop intelligent digitalization and decarbonization technologies for the building, power, and transportation sectors and uncover the promotion mechanisms of smart low-carbon energy systems by adding necessary social elements.
