The goal of this short innovation project is the development of a new prototype IoT Edge device with support for flexible digital parameter-adaptive control and estimation capability for industrial process applications. The unit will be developed upon an industrial embedded control platform (with integrated 4-20 mA local I/O, user display and Ethernet interfaces) as the target device. The Modbus-TCP/IP protocol will be used to integrate the new device within a commercial SCADA platform. Verification of the end-to-end functionality and validation of the control effectiveness will be experimentally demonstrated on a new process control test facility housed using Teesside University's current engineering facilities.
