Description

Education Endowment Foundation Funded Early Stage Programme development study.
A study to elicit teachers' views on the implementation of a universal nursery programme and a reception class intervention designed to enable children to access phonics teaching with success.
The study was undertaken in collaboration with a local school, and completed in 24 settings across the North East of England.

Key findings

- That both programmes are workable in nurseries and reception classes.
- That both programmes are really needed in early years settings to support children growing up in under resourced communities to access phonics teaching with a good chance of success.
