Description

Designing and implementing LTE-WLAN offloading techniques proposed in Release 13 by 3GPP

Layman's description

This work has enabled the ORCA platform with the 3GPP LTE-WLAN inter-working protocols. These techniques allow operator-controlled access to licensed and unlicensed spectrum and enable transparent access to the operator's evolved core. The most important aspect of these techniques is that they could be enabled with straightforward software upgrades and can utilize the existing Wi-Fi networks.
