Project Details

Description

This project represents an externally funded, collaborative public health initiative between Teesside University’s MIMA School of Art & Design, the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and The Hepatitis C Trust. Stemming from NHS England's global elimination strategy for Hepatitis C (HCV), this regional campaign targets the Tees Valley area to drive local awareness and engagement with diagnostic testing.
Acting as academic lead and project facilitator, I embedded this live brief into the illustration ecosystem, providing students with a funded opportunity to engage in professional practice and live client co-production. The project involved the design and development of an integrated information campaign and public-facing print media, incorporating digital gatekeeping mechanisms (QR code integration linking directly to the NHS HCV test request platform). The output bridges the gap between third-sector advocacy, clinical infection services, and community-centric design, demonstrating how illustration pedagogy can actively contribute to localized, life-saving healthcare strategies and digital public health mobilisation.
