This chapter attempts a brief critical assessment of the relationship of PASOK with the police apparatus, and more specifically of the intervention of PASOK in the field of police and policing. This assessment on one hand has to do with the positions of PASOK vis-a-vis the organisation and operation of the police, as well as the issues of police personnel; on the other, it has to do with the policies of PASOK either as a party of the opposition or, particularly, as the governing party with regard to the institutional and legislative framework that defines the remit, powers, duties and discretions of the police in the public sphere and the wider social life (Note: abstract translated from the Greek language)
