Abstract
During the process of producing α, ω-tridecanedioic acid (DCA13) by Candida tropicalis, a (fluorometric) method was established to determine activity of carnitine acetyltransferase (CAT), which was featured by simple method, good repeatability and accurate determination. The relationship between enzyme kinetics of CAT and the rate of DCA13 production was also studied. The result shows that the cell relies mainly on growing in the early stage of metabolism, and the activity of CAT is so high that can provide more growth motivity; while the cell enters into DCA 13-producing period in the later stage of metabolism, the changing tendency presents an (inverse) relationship, that is, when the rate of DCA13 production is high, the activity of CAT is low.
