Abstract
This article presents a framework that automates Nigeria’s architectural registration process jointly administered by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) using contemporary web technologies built on the Django Python framework. The system digitises submissions, document verification, payments, exam scheduling, and certification, delivering step-by-step interfaces, real-time status tracking, and automated notifications to reduce error, shorten cycle times, and widen access. A comparative scan of international practices underscores the gains from automation and informs design choices around transparency, auditability, and interoperability. Findings indicate substantial improvements in efficiency and user satisfaction while preserving professional standards. Beyond technical performance, the study clarifies implications for architectural policy and the built environment: it establishes a digital-by-default regulatory model, strengthens public verification and accountability, and expands equitable entry into the profession capabilities that support better procurement, code compliance, and project delivery in underserved regions. The paper offers transferable design patterns and recommendations for ICT adoption across allied professional councils.
