Argentine, Mexican and Guatemalan Photography: Feminist, Queer and Post-Masculinist Perspectives - by Foster David, William: Book Reviews

Abstract

Scholarship on Latin American photographic culture, still an embryonic field, has largely clustered around issues of national identity, collective memory, and the aftermath of state terrorism. Gender and sexual politics in the region, meanwhile, have received considerable attention from the humanities and social sciences, yet the role of photography remains largely overlooked. Foster's study therefore represents a most welcome contribution to these intersecting fields.
