Abstract
The first British feature film script commissioned by the Venice Biennale, the screenplay for Blood Cells builds upon the Blood Cells 'proof of concept' test film presented at CPH:FORUM 2012 in Copenhagen to provide a new and unique screenwriting model for the combined integration of:
• Scripted performance and guided improvisation;
• Professional, nonprofessional, and incidental/ambient performers.
This text’s innovative range of social, creative, and methodological techniques for filmmaking in the social realist mode helped to inspire the founding of the Social Realism Seminar at Teesside University.
