Abstract

Figurations presents a theoretically dynamic contribution to current debates surrounding the positioning of bodies within social and cultural milieu and, most significantly, their construction through diverse dis courses in science, cultures and the media. The vantage point adopted to study such processes is the cultural construction of the child's body in global contexts. Castaneda's starting point for such a discussion is that, since the child is typically viewed as an adult in the making, they are always inherently incomplete.
