Abstract
The uses of cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) in working with individual clients are numerous, and have been explored in depth already in other chapters. Overtime, CAT has become more prevalent in its uses outside of the therapy room, particularly in working organizationally with teams. The phenomena of parallel process between client and team is well documented, however, this chapter will focus upon the relational functioning of teams. The client remains at the heart of this care, as staff who feel psychologically safe within a well-functioning team are increasingly likely to provide better care, thus leading to a more positive journey for the client. The chapter will lead the reader through the process of facilitating CAT consultancy with teams, situating this approach within the broader team dynamics and organizational CAT literature. It is hoped that the reader will gain practical insight on how to utilize the CAT consultancy with teams' approach within the workplace.
