Abstract
Men's health has emerged as a key area for research and practice in the field of public health over the last decade. Although much of this work has been valuable in illuminating and challenging perceived inequalities experienced by men in terms of health and wellbeing, there has been a lack critical theoretical work which explore how men are positioned and constructed within recent health discourses. More sociological approaches drawing on established traditions within medical sociology, have significant potential to critically explore and unpack current debates regarding men's health and well being and begin to illuminate the complex relationships between men, their health and wider social, political and economic factors.
