Abstract

The combustion efficiency of coal-fired power stations can be significantly improved if three critical parameters, relating to the flow of pulverised fuel, are measured and (ideally) controlled. These are the solids velocity, the solids distribution between pipes or 'split' and the particle size. New meters produced by ABB Instrumentation measure the solids velocity, the solids split and gas temperature.
