Abstract
Electrochemical sensors are common analytical tools for the sensing of cancer biomarkers and biomarkers in general. They provide fast analysis times, high sensitivities, and the ability to perform complex measurements such as multiplexed analyses or screening tests. This chapter introduces the fundamental principles being electrochemical sensing and describes the main electrochemical sensing techniques. Strategies for sensing cancer biomarkers such as RNA, DNA, proteins, circulating tumor cells, and extracellular vesicles are discussed along with case studies to provide an overview of their main applications in different settings.
