Abstract

In this first article of a six-part series on critical care nursing, we introduce the role and what it involves, as well as looking at how critical care nurses can support the whole patient, from a physical and psychosocial perspective. The importance of rehabilitation, assessment of risk of ongoing morbidity and delirium are also discussed.
