Abstract
Dr Nikki Carthy will update on research findings and present a theoretical model of helplessness using mental health professionals working with older female survivors of intimate partner abuse as a working example. She will highlight the impact of vicarious trauma and burnout on professionals and discuss the role of interpersonal dynamics and boundaries when working with survivors.
