Abstract
Basil Beattie in conversation with Lesley Hicks, senior lecturer in Fine Art at Teesside University. This took place within the context of his retrospective exhibition, When Now Becomes Then: Three Decades; during this discussion he offered insights into his career and practice. The session included a tour of the exhibition, where he addressed the processes and motivations behind his paintings, and a discussion of his role as a teacher in various art schools, particularly Goldsmiths, University of London.
