N2 - A presentation delivered at Teesside University in the School of Social Science, Humanities and Law. The current climate in UK Higher Education often fails to use intersectionality in an effective manner. Staff and Students still face racism in several systematic ways, as well as sexist, homophobic, biphobia and transphobic practices across the UK. There is also a persisting disparity between university publication outputs by gender, with males still dominating in authorship. Recommendations for future policy reforms and practice include avoiding colour-blind practice, avoiding gender blind practices, avoiding the use of discursive buffers and white tears, as well as avoiding Eurocentric and heteronormative practices.
