Abstract
In 2021, industry specialists were invited to help design, develop and deliver a postgraduate module, Digital Communications, at Teesside University International Business School.
The aims of this initiative were threefold:
1 To give students experience of real-world practices in an industry that is evolving at a dizzying pace;
2 To allow specialists to input into student learning to help prepare them for the workplace;
3 To provide students with a rich academic experience.
Based on subsequent research, this workshop shares insights from all parties involved in this initiative and provide tips on how this approach can be used in any area of business education. Collaborative research by students, industry specialists and the course leader has identified best practice within this approach and, of course, what could be done differently.
