Abstract
Every moment information, images and text are uploaded, shared and viewed; our world is increasingly joined up, connected… Digital technology and the way people use it is changing the learning landscape. Internet resources, social media and mobile devices offer flexible, innovative routes to develop relationships, share, collaborate and learn. Classrooms are becoming ‘flipped’, access has taken on a new meaning, tablet-based learning is becoming the norm. Learning has the potential to be more immersive, personalised and affordable.
Is digital technology shaping engagement with audiences and the way gallery education is conducted?
This article collates extracts of a conversation that took place at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art on 17 July 2014. Facilitated by Dr Judy Thomas this explored some of the trends and issues faced by the Learning Team at BALTIC, Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead in recognising gaps that need addressing, especially when engaging school audiences.
