Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

KING is the graphic biography of Jack Kirby, the unsung visual creator of the Marvel Comics fictional universe. Concentrating on Jack Kirby's Ashkenazi Jewish and American Jewish roots, the graphic biography narrates the events that led to centuries of antisemitic politics and perceptions in Europe, the persecution that Kirby's family endured in the Austrian Empire, New York's important role as a melting pot of persecuted peoples and, eventually, as a creative hub for the world's first comic books.
