    Abstract

In 2015 Hicks was invited to take part in “Nothing but Good”, where she selected and presented a watercolour she made ‘View of Antwerp from South of the River’ in 2010 alongside a painting by Johannes Vermeer’s ‘View of Delft’ (1660-1661) In the text accompanying the images Hicks talked about the process of working out in the open, on location and about the urgency of the decision making such a practice engenders, linking this process with the freshness and the depiction in paint, of a moment in time captured by Johannes Vermeer in his work ‘View of Delft”.
