Abstract
C’è voluto del tempo, molto tempo, perché Littoria uscisse dalla mitizzazione della sua fondazione, e perché la sua pur breve storia divenisse campo di esplorazione della Storia. Occorre anche dire che non è stato
un esercizio semplice. Il libro che, in pratica, ha rotto gli indugi – anche se
v’è qualche scritto contemporaneo o che lo precede – credo fermamente che
sia stato Quadrato Anno Zero – Littoria 1932 – Latina 1962, che Tommaso
Stabile scrisse e pubblicò a sue spese presso la Tipografia Aurora di Latina il
18 dicembre 1982. Quando fui da lui stesso invitato a contribuire alla presentazione di un suo successivo libro, pur non condividendone certe posizioni (come ebbi lealmente e pubblicamente a dire nella stessa occasione),
e malgrado provassi qualche imbarazzo in un affollatissimo e importante
parterre di una inequivocabile parte politica che allora si chiamava, forse,
ancora Msi, non ebbi alcuna difficoltà nel riconoscere Stabile come “primogenito della storiografia pontina di Littoria” per quel suo primo libro.

It took time, a long time, for Littoria to emerge from the mythologizing of its foundation, and for its brief history to become a field of exploration of history. It must also be said that it was not
a simple exercise. The book that, in practice, broke the deadlock – even if
