Memes for Creative Personal Tutoring

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Allowing students to effectively express their emotions can be a challenge within personal tutoring. Meme-making is a strategy that can be employed by personal tutors to engage students in a low-stakes, entertaining, and creative activity whilst also offering immediate insights into personal tutees’ needs, experiences, and concerns. This chapter discusses how memes can be used to enhance tutor communication, as a collaborative group activity and as a means of reflecting on personal learning journeys and experiences. Practical considerations and guidance around how to use memes effectively within personal tutoring are also provided.
