Abstract

This paper deals with operational issues related to a 36-MVA, 11-kV synchronous motor used to drive a reciprocating compressor in a process industry. The condition of stator winding insulation system is assessed with the aid of dielectric dissipation factor and capacitance measurement, partial discharge recordings and polarisation/depolarisation current analysis. A brief description of each test is provided and experimental results are presented and discussed.
