Abstract
This account provides a brief history of the 140 plus years of the Norton Sports Complex. The project aims to analytically tell the story of the expansion of the Norton site, investigate the overarching and influential personalities involved, explore the development of the hosted and associated clubs and assess the impact of the site on the people of Norton and their self-identification. It will be argued the reason the site has arrived at its current form is a series of significant turning points throughout a 143-year history. From the initial role of Norton Green in the blossoming of cricket in the village to the founding of Norton Sports Charity, pivotal points in time exist that had a fundamental impact on the complex.
