Abstract
This paper describes new, non-restrictive instruments for metering pulverised fuel (pf) on coal-fired controlling the solids mass flow rate. Typical data obtained from on-line measurements of pulverised fuel flow in large-scale (500 MW) coal fired power plant are presented. Also included are some experimental results from split control of a bifurcating system. Based on the results, some of the immediate benefits of continuous pf metering are discussed together with the potential to further enhance the operational performance by optimising the fuel distribution to the burners.
