Since the early specialisation of nurses working solely in theatre at the John Hopkings Hospital, Baltimore, USA in 1889 [1],the roles of nurses in theatres have evolved overthe last 130 years. Apart from the traditional roles of theatre nurses, the roles of more senior nurses included assisting surgeons in those early years
