Abstract
This audit tool has been designed to help professionals identify whether the design and delivery of self-harm and suicide prevention training is aligned with current best practice recommendations. The audit tool has been developed based on several streams of evidence: a review of the literature: Rapid scoping review of evidence of best practice in the design and delivery of self-harm and suicide prevention training , interviews with professionals involved in self-harm and suicide prevention work within the region, interviews with people with lived experience of self-harm and suicide nationally, as well as mapping of training to the NHS Health Education England (HEE) Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Competence Frameworks.
The audit tool is designed to be completed with reference to the Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Audit Tool (SHSPAT) Auditor’s Manual, which provides background information on the tool, a description of what each audit tool item means, and guidance on appropriate evidence sources to consider when evaluating self-harm and suicide prevention training.
