Abstract
The author explores the precise nature of the relationship between parenting and delinquency and then the links between economic deprivation and youth crime in order to challenge a recent proposal to reduce child benefit provision in families where children persist in offending and where the parents appear not to be taking steps to prevent such behaviour.
