Abstract

Humanities departments have come under increasing pressure in recent years. However, graduates within these discipline areas graduates possess vital skills such as communication, critical thinking and research which can transform lives. Moreover, the majority of senior ministers continue to hold degrees within humanities and social sciences subjects.

In response to the Office for Student’s student outcome requirement for progression into managerial or professional employment, Teesside University launched a unique collaboration with the Civil Service, based at Darlington Economic Campus, in 2023. This partnership aimed to cultivate the leaders of tomorrow by demonstrating the ability of Teesside’s undergraduates to engage with and influence public policy.
