Abstract

A poem inspired by the exhibit The Hand of Glory in Whitby museum, which is a mummified human hand supposedly from a felon, cut off while the body still hung on the gallows and prepared and pickled. According to folklore The Hand of Glory was used by burglars to send inhabitants of houses into a coma.
