Abstract
China’s urbanization is in the last half of rapid urbanization, and the speed has slowed down, but in fact, there is still apparent room for improvement. The urbanization of the economic, the population, the green and the social may have different effects on the ecological environment (EE) through different mechanisms. This paper analyzed the influence mechanism of new-type urbanization (NTU) on the EE quality in Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration (GZPUA) and proposed relevant assumptions. We have established a scientific and complete indicator system for NTU and EE. The improved entropy method was used to evaluate the NTU quality and EE quality based on the long-term series of socio-economic and resource environmental data. To do so, a panel data from 2011 to 2018 were used to verify the assumptions. More significantly, we investigate the influence of economic, population, green and social urbanization on the EE for the whole of GZPUA. In addition, this influence is further examined on the regions of high EE quality and low EE quality, respectively. The research results suggest that the integrative level of the NTU quality of the GZPUA has been improved, and the NTU shows the effect of regional adjoining competition. However, the quality of the EE has decreased slightly in other cities except for a few cities. The EE protection situation of the GZPUA is still severe. The economic, population, green and social urbanization affect the quality of the EE through different mechanisms. The economic urbanization has the greatest positive effect on the quality of EE. In addition, the effect of various urbanization on the EE has regional heterogeneity. It helps us understand the characteristics of each region and make appropriate policy recommendations.
