Abstract
Voyeurism can be broadly defined as a means to gain satisfaction or sexual pleasure from watching others, either in an open or covert way. The central concern with the idea of voyeurism is its implicit suggestion of some gain to the voyeur themselves. Voyeurism may be illegal, depending on the source of the voyeuristic material. However, regardless of its legal status acts of voyeurism are not socially acceptable, running as they against the moral grain of society. Yet even as voyeurism is rarely understood in a positive light such acts have become celebrated elements of online, masculine and pornographic subcultures. This chapter explores the evolving nature of voyeurism through the examples of molka and trash streaming.
